An important part of wellness care involves the prevention of viral and bacterial infections by vaccination for diseases such as parvovirus, rabies, feline herpes virus, and others.
As part of the wellness care visit, and based on your pet’s history and lifestyle, our technician and veterinarian consult about which vaccines would be best for your pet. They will work with you to develop a health plan suitable for you and your pet. This includes a thorough physical to ensure that your pet is healthy and that their system can handle the vaccinations.
Core vaccinations that are required for all pets include:
- Dogs – Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, and Parainfluenza
- Cats – Rabies, Herpes Virus, Calicivirus, Chlamydia, Panleukopenia, and Feline Leukemia Virus
Specialty vaccinations such as Lyme, Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough may be recommended for pets with social, active, and/or outdoor lifestyles.
To lower the number of injections that a pet will receive in one visit, we use three-year core vaccinations. Yearly immunization appointments are recommended to ensure your pet can be routinely examined to aid in the early detection of disease.
